Description
6 Alloway in Ayr is an early 19th-century single-storey cottage with an attic, built from rubble. It features an eaves course, painted strip margins, and painted surrounds around the openings on the ground floor.
The entrance elevation faces southeast and has a central square-headed entrance with a timber door and a narrow letterbox fanlight. There are single windows on either side of the entrance, and canted dormers are located at the outer right and left sides of the attic.
Both the northeast and southwest elevations are gabled, while the northwest elevation was not visible in 1999.
The cottage has plate glass, 4-pane, and 12-pane timber sash and case windows. It is topped with a slate roof, stone skews, rebuilt coped gablehead stacks, and circular cans.
The interior was not seen in 1999.
