Description

1 High Street in Blairgowrie is a shop and office building dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It is two stories tall with an attic and features three bays on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in whitewashed render, with a stone cill to the east, a base course, a frieze and cornice at the ground floor, a band course, and an eaves cornice. The windows have timber transoms and mullions.

The southeast elevation, facing High Street, is symmetrical and includes large display windows with multi-pane toplights in the center and left bays, along with a door on the outer left. To the right is a smaller window with a two-leaf timber door beyond, both also featuring multi-pane toplights. These elements are topped by a frieze and cornice with a moulded bracket and stop-chamfered angle on the outer right. At the first floor, there is a finialled transomed bipartite oriel window in the center, with windows in the flanking bays and finialled canted dormer windows above, all linked by a band of decorative cast-iron brattishing, which continues along the roof ridge.

The northeast elevation, facing Upper Allan Street, has a gabled appearance with a single window to the right at the first floor. The building features multi-pane upper sashes over plate glass and four-pane glazing patterns, all in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there is a coped rendered stack with polygonal cans to the southwest. A square-section cast-iron downpipe with a decorative rainwater hopper, along with decorative cast-iron finials and brattishing, adds to the building's character.
