Description
The Stable Block at Gleneagles House is a building that originally dates from the eastern part, which is possibly from the mid-17th century, and was reconstructed in 1750. It underwent alterations in the early 19th century and was completely reconstructed and raised in the late 19th century. The structure features two storeys and an attic with masonry dormers. At the western end, there is a two-storey block with a low ground floor and a tall first floor, which has four windows and a piend roof, with quoin angles. This block has also been slightly raised and includes dormers. There is a corresponding detached block on the west that remains unaltered, linked by a single-storey wooden verandah from the late 18th century. This arrangement reflects the symmetrical wings of an incomplete scheme for a mansion house, which was likely designed around 1745 to 1750, although the central block and links were never built. Additionally, there is a low two-storey L-plan stable block with six windows on the west, attached to a two-storey house. All parts of the building are harled and whitewashed with margins.
