Description
Kincardine Castle is a Gothic-style building constructed between 1801 and 1803, possibly designed by Richard Crichton. It is a symmetrical structure with two storeys and a basement, built from squared coursed rubble. The northwest entrance front features a three-window center with a raised parapet, which previously had a crenellated canted porch with arches between octagonal turrets. The outer bays on this front have canted oriel windows, with two-light windows above. The northeast and southwest elevations each have two square-headed windows with hood moulds, with a modern addition on the northeast side. The southeast front has a three-window center bow flanked by angle turrets and one window on either side, with the basement extending to a full storey on this elevation. The parapet has traceried metal details, while the stone center features are notable. Inside, the simple interior includes an entrance hall with an arcaded Gothic cornice, while the rest of the detailing is mainly classical.
