Description

The Hermitage in Dunkeld is a single-storey gazebo that has semi-circular ends and is situated on a precipice overlooking a waterfall. The entrance end features ashlar stonework with grooving and a semi-circular arched doorway. Inside, there is an octagonal entrance hall, and the main apartment has been altered recently; it is now open-ended where there was originally a bow window. A fragment of late 18th-century decoration can still be seen. The building was remodelled by G. Stewart in 1783.
