Description

The Hermitage Railway Viaduct is a large structure built between 1861 and 1863 by engineer Joseph Mitchell. It features a single large segmental arch, which is flanked by crenellated refuges. The masonry approaches to the viaduct are substantial and include openings for footpaths, as well as octagonal flanking features.
