Description

The Railway Hotel, located at 1 High Street in Auchterarder, dates from around 1848. It is a two-storey building with a later mansard attic and features three windows, with the end windows being bipartite. The exterior is finished in whitewashed stucco, accented by black-painted architraved openings. The entrance is highlighted by an Ionic pilaster doorpiece that includes Greek ornamentation and a fine bas-relief of an early locomotive of the 2-2-2 type above it. Adjoining the hotel is a two-window cottage with a central door.
