Description
The signal box at Dunkeld and Birnam Station, built by the Highland Railway Company in 1919, is a two-storey structure made of brick with weather-boarding. The cabin, or operating room, features multi-pane glazing and is accessed by an extended timber forestair leading to a half-gabled entrance porch that projects at the upper level. There are two small windows in the locking room. The east elevation is entirely brick, with a small window located in the upper right and a tall wallhead stack positioned centrally, set behind the eaves. The forestair includes a trackside viewing platform extension.
