Description

The War Memorial Institute in Bridgend, Dalginross, was originally built in 1895 as the Bridgend Temperance Hotel and was adapted for use as an institute after the First World War. This building is two stories tall with an attic and features an octagonal spired oriel at the corner. The front has three windows on the first floor, along with a stone-consoled balcony that has a low wrought-iron parapet. The words 'WAR MEMORIAL INSTITUTE' are displayed in good cast-iron Victorian lettering. The roof is broad-eaved and slated, and there is a two-story back wing with two dormer heads, as well as a single-story office wing.
