Description

The Secession Church, located on Drummond Street in Comrie, was built around 1780. It is a rectangular church with an L-shaped arrangement, incorporating a two-storey, three-window manse building at the west gable. The church is harled with margins defining the window and door openings. It has a piended roof, and the southwest gabled outshot has been reclad in corrugated iron. The flank elevation features two tall, round-headed windows alternating with three square-headed doors, two of which have been completely built up and one converted into a window. Originally, stabling was integrated into the body of the church.

The interior retains 19th-century piers and stalls. The building is currently in poor condition and is used as storage. The congregation was founded in 1740 by Reverend James McGregor of Lochearnfoot, who joined the Associate Presbytery on 13 March 1739. Initially, they met outdoors, holding services at irregular intervals, before the original church was built around 1750. The church has historical associations with the series of earthquakes that began in 1789. The statutory address includes Drummond Street and Commercial Lane.
