Description
Braco Sawmill is a 19th-century single-storey building constructed from rubble and topped with a piend roof. The structure is largely featureless, but it has a large overshot water wheel located in an unusual position on the embankment at the back. The wheel measures approximately 22 feet by 3 feet and has wooden arms with a cast iron frame that is cross stayed. It features segmental gearing and a right-angled wooden lade with a masonry trap at the angle. Although the sawmill is disused, it remains in good condition.
