Elsham, High Street, New Rattray

Elsham is an early to earlier 19th century L-plan house located on High Street in New Rattray. It is part of an irregular terrace and features two storeys along with a single storey and attic. The exterior is harled with painted margins and quoin strips.

The southeast elevation facing High Street is symmetrical, with a deep-set modern door in a block pedimented surround at the centre bay on the ground floor. There are windows in the flanking bays and regular fenestration on the first floor, which includes a narrow centre window.

On the southwest elevation, there is a blank gabled bay to the right of centre. To the left, a recessed single storey and attic wing has a timber door to the left of centre, a window in the adjacent bay to the right, and further windows in the outer bays. Above, there are two slate-hung pitch-roofed dormer windows and a small lean-to bay with a door on the outer left.

The windows are timber sash and case with plate glass glazing. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped brick stacks with cans and narrow, plain bargeboarding.
