Description
Kinnaird Castle is a tower house built around 1500, featuring four storeys and an attic, measuring 38 feet 6 inches by 27 feet 2 inches. It has a small jamb at the southwest corner and includes a small detached two-storey house to the east, which is dated 1610 and has the initials P.T.I.I.M.O. in the pediment of its first-floor window. The ground floor of this house contains a kitchen that measures 14 feet 6 inches by 13 feet 6 inches and features an arched fireplace measuring 13 feet 6 inches by 6 feet. There is a terrace that links this house to the main tower. The castle is topped with corbelled battlements and has a tall roof. To the west, there are remains of a courtyard. The structure was restored in 1855, having been roofless before that date, and two windows in the eastern part have been recently enlarged.
