Description
Aberuchill Castle is an original tower house built in an L-plan, featuring three storeys and an attic, along with turrets. The southwest, southeast, and northeast sides have a staircase in the re-entrant angle, which is now obscured by later additions. The east frontage has twin gables, and a dormer head from 1602 is built into the wall, with a porch added in 1869. The east wing is gothic and two storeys high, while the centre of the east frontage rises to three storeys. The interior of the keep was gutted and remodelled in the 18th and early 19th centuries, showcasing good interior work from that period. There are also poorly designed additions from 1869 and 1874. The castle is harled with margins throughout.
