Description

Garth Castle is an originally four-storey rectangular tower house built from rubble, measuring 29 feet by 17 feet. The ground floor features a vaulted ceiling, and there are parapets and a cape-house above. The castle likely dates back to the 15th century in its current form. Remnants of an iron yett can still be seen. The structure was partly rebuilt around 1890 by Sir Donald Currie, following designs by Andrew Heiton. In 1963, it was adapted for use as a residence and now has a flat roof.
