Description
10 Queen Street in Kirkwall is a house built in the early to earlier 19th century. It is a two-storey structure with a rectangular plan and is finished with harling.
On the northeast, or principal elevation, there is a central door flanked by a window on the right and two windows on the left. Above the door, there is a window centered on the first floor, with additional windows on either side above the outer ground floor windows. The first-floor windows are located under the eaves.
The southeast elevation adjoins an adjacent house, while the southwest elevation is plain and unadorned. On the northwest elevation, there is a ground floor window to the right and a centered first-floor window above it, along with a blocked first-floor window to the left.
The house features a replacement timber and glazed door with a fanlight. The principal elevation has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the northwest elevation has 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is pitched and covered with Welsh slate, with a Caithness slate easing course and corniced gable apex stacks.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 2002.
