25 St Catherine's Place, Kirkwall

25 St Catherine's Place in Kirkwall is a pair of two-storey, three-bay houses built around 1805, with later alterations. The houses have a rectangular plan and feature crowstepped gables, with the gabled end facing the street and an eastward extension that includes a single-storey lean-to addition. The exterior is harled.

On the north elevation, Number 25 has a deep-set part-glazed door located in the central bay, with a window on each floor in the flanking bays. Number 26 also has a deep-set door in the central bay, with windows on each floor in the adjacent bays and an additional window in the lean-to addition on the outer left. The west elevation, facing St Catherine's Place, has a window in the right bay at ground level and another window in the left bay at the first floor, with a gablehead above.

Number 25 features four-pane timber sash and case windows, while Number 26 has timber-framed windows with top-hung upper lights. The roofs are traditionally covered with graded stone slates, featuring stone ridges, harled corniced gableheads, and ridge stacks, along with uPVC rainwater goods.

The interiors were not seen during the last inspection in 1998. There is also a small single-storey rubble lean-to shed located to the east, which has boarded doors and a traditional graded stone slated roof.
