Description
10 Laing Street in Kirkwall is a mid to later 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of a small terrace. The building has a rectangular plan and features a plain classical style with harled exterior and painted margins around the openings.
On the southwest elevation, which is the principal front, there is a deep-set, part-glazed modern timber door located in the central bay, topped by a rectangular fanlight. Above this door, there is a window on the first floor. Each of the flanking bays also has a window on both floors.
The southeast elevation is adjacent to Number 12 Laing Street, which is not listed.
The house has two-pane timber sash and case windows and evenly spaced rooflights on the southwest pitch. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a stone ridge, harled, corniced mutual stacks, stone skews, and uPVC rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
