Description
Tomison's Academy is a tall single-storey school building constructed in 1851, featuring a three-pitched roof and arranged in a T-plan layout. The building has two-window fronts, except at the flanks where there are re-entrant angles with one-window sections that include lower porches. The exterior showcases harrow angular coursers and ashlar quoins that are the width of two coursers, along with an ashlar plinth and porches. The windows are designed with mullion and transom crosses, incorporating small lying panes. The roofs are slated, with the central pavilion topped by a group of three ashlar chimney stacks. These stacks are battered and adorned with neo-Greek capital cornices, while the outer stacks are square-plan and the central stack is oblong, featuring columnar chimney cans arranged in a 1-3-1 pattern, creating an effective silhouette.
