Description

Dated 1889. Single storey T-plan school; dark local whinstone, tooled and polished ashlar dressings and margins. Centre advanced gable (long arm of T) with pair large round-headed windows flanked by lean-to porches, each door with flanking lights and double leaf-plank doors with decorative cast-iron hinges. Large tripartite window in each return gable. Multi-pane glazing with timber astragals and window frame. Slate roof with original diminutive triangular vents; tall corniced end stacks.

ENCLOSING WALLS: school enclosed 3 sides with high coped rubble walls. Lower walls front street with centre pair widely spaced gatepiers and second pair as pedestrian entrance.
