Description

Huntley Church of England Primary School, dated 1875 with an addition in 1913, is built of squared, roughly-coursed hammer-dressed red stone, featuring cream ashlar dressings. The school has tiled roofs with a crested ridge and a 'T'-shaped plan, with a porch at the angle and a classroom added at the rear in 1913.

The right side has a high gable for the hall, supported by square-set buttresses, and a plain plinth. It features a three-light window with geometric tracery and leaf-stops on the hoodmould, topped with a floriate finial and a circular eye above. The gable has cross gablets on the kneelers and a high gabled bellcote at the apex, which also has cross gablets and an octagonal finial. There is a sunk trefoil in the gable.

On the left, the porch is gabled with cross gablet kneelers and an apex with a square finial. The Early English doorway is moulded, with red colonettes and uncarved stops on the hoodmould, leading to a planked door. Above the doorway, the date is carved on a shield. The left side of the 'T' stem is plain, with buttresses similar to those on the hall, and the gable has cross-gablet kneelers and a trefoil stone at the apex. A chimney rises from the roof with a stone base and a rebuilt top.

Inside, the hall features five bays with trusses that rise off chunky corbels, an inserted ceiling, shouldered doorways, and a stone fireplace surround.
