Description
The White House Building, located at 36-42 Main Street in Kilsyth, is likely from the late 19th century. It stands two storeys tall and originally housed a pair of shops on the ground floor, which have now been combined but still feature unusually complete and high-quality original shop fronts. Each shop front has three bays with a central recessed door, large glass panes, and original timber fascia boards. To the right, there is a close door. The upper part of the building is symmetrical, finished in polished ashlar, with four bays that include a single inner window and bipartite outer windows, all featuring plate glass sashes. The centre is raised and gabled, topped with an apex stack, and includes a pair of original pedimented bipartite dormers. The roof is slate-covered. The rear elevation features a pair of piended bipartite dormers, wings, and a glazed gallery on the first floor.
