Description

Circa 1860. 2-storey, 6-bay, rectangular-plan, symmetrical, gabled, classical tenement with shops to ground. Yellow ashlar sandstone to facade, squared and snecked rubble to sides and rear. Dividing band between 1st and 2nd storey, eaves course, profiled guttering. Plain margins, projecting lintels to 2nd storey windows.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 4 modern plate glass shop fronts to ground, entrance to stairwell to centre. Regular fenestration to upper storey; tripartite windows with pilaster mullions to outer bays, paterae to frieze above; symmetrical wallhead stacks to penultimate outer bays.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: irregular fenestration.

N (SIDE) ELEVATION: obscured by abutting building.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind gable end obscured at ground by abutting building.

Tilt-and-turn plate glass windows. Grey slates, lead flashing. Cast-iron rainwater goods. Coped gable stacks.

INTERIORS: modern shop fittings to ground. Tenements converted to dentist's practice at 1st floor.
