Description
Redheugh Lodge and Gatepiers is a late 19th-century Scottish Baronial lodge of single-storey, three-bay design. The lodge stands on a battered plinth and is constructed of snecked rubble with ashlar dressings. A turret projects from the re-entrant angle, featuring a doorway with a moulded architrave and a rectangular fanlight above, flanked by side lights. The roof is conical and covered with fish-scale slates. A continuous moulded cill course runs along the base of the windows. To the left of the doorway is a bipartite window, while the advanced bay features a tripartite window with heavily moulded mullions and transoms; the upper lights have astragals. A panel above the centre light in the right bay is inscribed with "BMK AD." The building has crowstepped gables, end stacks, and a slate roof.
The lodge is enclosed by balustraded quadrant walls with battered and buttressed piers. Corniced drum piers with moulded caps support wrought-iron lamp brackets, and narrow openings are incorporated into the flanking buttresses. Wrought-iron gates with scrolled decoration complete the ensemble.
