Description
The stables at Ladyland likely date to around 1817-21, with the side wings possibly reusing elements of earlier 17th-century buildings. They comprise a single-storey and lofted, U-shaped stable block. A blocked segmental-headed entrance, constructed of ashlar, features broad flanking pilasters, a cornice, and a blocking course on its outer face. The stables enclose a rectangular yard surrounded by low stable buildings with irregularly placed carriage entrances, windows, and doors, some of which were originally part of a domestic building. The buildings are constructed from rubble and lime-washed, with painted margins.
