Description
The Stable Block, part of the Manor Park Hotel, was built around 1843 by David and James Hamilton. Originally designed as stables around a U-shaped courtyard, the west range has been extended to the north by two full-height bays. The building is one and two storeys high, with harled walls and ashlar margins. The west-facing elevation is asymmetrical with varying roof levels. A tall, round-arched entranceway, positioned below a dovecot, provides access. A single-storey, piended wall connects to the right, while a two-storey wall, incorporating a round-headed window on the first floor, is linked by a low wall originally containing only three tall, slit ventilators. Two bays on the left are later additions, with upper windows set within stilted gabled dormers. The courtyard elevations have been altered, and original segmental-arched cartways have been blocked. A corniced axial stack is a prominent feature. The slate roofs are mostly piended, with projecting eaves. Screen walls, with corniced square gate piers, enclose the courtyard to the north. The building is given group value for its historical significance, despite later alterations.
