Description

The Boat House, part of Dougarie Lodge on the Isle of Arran, was built around 1900 and designed by architect J J Burnet. It is an unusual building with a twin gabled structure constructed from red sandstone, notable for its swept away eaves. A central gabled verandah is a prominent feature. Inside, the walls are decorated with amusing cartoons drawn freehand directly onto the plaster and protected by glass.
