Description
The building is a late 19th-century byre located at Hazelwood Farm in Imachar. It features a farm steading with outbuildings at the rear and is a single-storey structure with an attic that breaks the eaves. The farmhouse is designed in an L-plan with three bays and has outer lean-to extensions. The ground floor showcases a distinctive glazing pattern with bipartite and single windows. The exterior is made of harl-pointed coursed rubble, accented with long and short fireclay quoins and fireclay tabbed window surrounds. There is a brick porch that has similar dressings.
On the southwest (principal) elevation, there is a central pitched roof enclosed porch that includes a timber panelled door, a letterbox fanlight, and flanking slit windows featuring an octagonal glazing pattern. To the left and right of the porch are bipartite windows, and there are monopitch lean-to wings on both outer sides with single windows. The roof features bipartite wallhead dormers on the left and right, along with a smaller central dormer, all topped with pitched roofs.
The northeast (rear) elevation was not visible in 2002. The outbuildings are constructed from coursed, split field boulders and other reclaimed materials. To the left at the rear is a piended roof byre, while to the rear right are L-plan cartsheds with piended roofs.
The farmhouse has timber sash and case windows with a hexagonal glazing pattern interspersed with brown-coloured diamonds on the ground front, although some bipartite dormers have been fitted with replacement uPVC glazing. The farmhouse and ranges to the rear right are covered with grey slates, though some areas have had slates removed. The byre to the left has been reroofed with concrete tiles and features brick end stacks, along with five hexagonal clay cans and one round can.
The interior was not seen in 2002.
