Churchyard, Edinkillie Parish Church

Edinkillie Parish Church is a simple rectangular church built in 1741 and renovated in 1813. It features a long six-bay south elevation, harled with ashlar margins and dressings. The rear has three irregular piended or gabled projections, with entrances located in the outer return re-entrant angles and a window above each entrance, which also houses a stairwell and vestry. There is a later single keystoned oculus in the outer bays. The south elevation has six square-headed symmetrical windows, while each gable has a round-headed keystoned gallery window with block imposts.

The church has multi-pane glazing, a simple bellcote at the west gable, and a finial at the east. It has a slate roof and a mural memorial plaque at the base of the west gable.

Inside, the church features a galleried interior on three sides, which is narrow at the south and largely infilled by a 1941 organ. The central south wall has a panelled demi-octagonal pulpit with a similarly shaped sounding board and a panelled back-board flanked by fluted pilasters. The pews are plain pine, and the gallery front has simple shallow panelling. There is also a 1941 Communion table. A simple pine dado lines the entrance passage, which accommodates a re-set stone armorial dated 166?6, initialled MD, with a worn inscription.

Adjacent to the church is an early 19th-century rubble hexagonal watch house, which has a central door in the north face and flanking windows, a rear wallhead stack, and a facetted local slate roof topped with an apex ball finial. The former manse garden wall abuts the watch house on each side.

The burial ground is enclosed by a drystone wall, with squat round rubble piers flanking the entrance, each capped with round stones. It contains 18th and 19th-century tombstones.
