Description
1 The Square in Fochabers is a late 18th century, west-facing, two-storey house and shop with five bays. The building features harled pointed rubble with a harled gable facing High Street, accented by contrasting painted tooled ashlar margins. The facade has a regular arrangement with doorways located in alternate inner bays, and there is a cornice at No 3. The first floor has three windows, while the ground floor and first floor of the High Street return gable each have a single window, along with a small attic window. The windows are fitted with two-pane glazing. The building has coped end stacks, one of which has been renewed, and scroll skewputts, all under a slate roof with a stone ridge. Access to the rear is through a pend located at 69 High Street.
