Description
The Kimberley Inn is a two-storey, three-bay house dated 1777 (the final figure of the date is indistinct). It faces west and is joined to a long, later rear wing, forming an L-shaped plan. The front facade is harled, while the side and rear are of whitewashed rubble with contrasting painted ashlar margins. A slightly off-centre entrance, at a raised ground floor level, is accessed by a flight of steps. Windows are located on the first floor in the outer bays only, featuring four-pane glazing. The rear gable retains crowsteps, while at the front, the roofline features later flat skews with inscribed and dated cavetto skewputts. The building has moulded coped end stacks and a slate roof. A low, coped front wall stands nearby. A single-storey, attic rear wing has a lean-to entrance. One skewputt is initialled I RH K N and dated 1777, although the final figure is worn. The statutory address is 94 Findhorn.
