Description
This building at 3 Main Street, Temple, dates from the later 18th century and is a single-storey structure that originally consisted of three cottages, now combined into one house. There are later additions to the right and rear of the building. The exterior is made of tooled random rubble with dressed stone features, including long and short quoins.
The southwest elevation, which is the main front, is asymmetrical. It features a wide window at the center that was originally a doorway, and a bipartite window in the penultimate bay to the right, which also was originally a doorway. To the left, there is a boarded timber replacement doorway in the penultimate bay. The remaining bays have regular window arrangements. There is a single-storey, single-bay addition from the 20th century that is recessed to the outer right, featuring a single window that is off-center to the right.
The southeast and northeast elevations were not visible in 1998, and the northwest elevation is obscured by the aforementioned 20th-century addition.
The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof has been replaced with concrete pantiles and features a concrete ridge, stone skew stones, and tooled coped gable heads with ridge stacks that have circular cans. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron. The interior was not seen in 1998.
