72, 74, 76 St Andrew Street in Dalkeith is a block of three local authority houses built around 1930. This two-storey building features five bays arranged in a 2-1-2 pattern and is finished in harled render. It has a base course and a cill course at the first floor, along with gabled dormerheads.

The west elevation facing St Andrew Street has a painted panel in the center bay, corniced between the floors and at the eaves. Above the two-leaf door, there is a recessed panel, and a bipartite lunette window is located at the first floor. The ground and first floors have regular fenestration.

The north elevation has a door at the center and a window at the first floor. This elevation is advanced to the left, with a roof that sweeps down. There is a window at the ground floor and a dormer-headed window at the first floor.

The south elevation is a mirror image of the north elevation.

The east elevation features regularly disposed fenestration. The windows have a pattern of plate glass glazing, which are regrettable replacements. The steeply piended roof is covered with grey slates, and there are harled stacks at the center of the north and south pitches.
