3, 4 Harvieston Mains Cottages

2 Harvieston Mains Cottages is a terrace of three single-storey and attic cottages, likely designed by Robert Smith of Gorebridge in the late 19th century. The cottages are built with tooled rubble and feature droved dressings, stop-chamfered reveals, long and short quoins, overhanging eaves, and simple barge boarding.

The northeast elevation showcases the three cottages, each with a central doorway and a gabled porch that has kingpost detail. The first cottage (No. 1) has a boarded timber door with a two-pane fanlight, while No. 2 and No. 3 have replacement doors. Flanking bays contain windows, and above these are timber gabled dormers with kingpost detail, although this detail is missing from No. 2 and No. 3.

The northwest and southeast elevations are blank, and the southwest elevation was not seen in 1997. The cottages have eight-pane timber sash and case windows on the ground floor and four-pane timber sash and case windows in the dormers of No. 1. No. 2 and No. 3 have replacement two-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a lead ridge, with coped ashlar gablehead stacks that have circular and octagonal cans. The interior was not seen in 1997.
