Description
Whitehill Mains Farmhouse is a two-storey, three-bay farmhouse dating from the earlier to mid 19th century. It features a piend roof and is constructed of red sandstone, with rubble on the sides and rear. The front is squared and coursed with heavy pointing, and includes an ashlar base, cill course, and dressings.
The south elevation has a centrally located corniced door with an architraved surround, flanked by windows in each bay at the first floor. The door is deep-set, flush-panelled, and has a geometrically paned fanlight above it.
On the rear elevation, there is a stair window at the center, with windows in the outer bays on each floor, and a small later door inserted to the left of center. The east elevation has two ground floor windows and one first floor window, while the west elevation is blank and abutted by a garden wall.
The sash and case windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern, and the roof is covered with grey slates. Tall sandstone stacks rise from the ends of the building.
