Description

50-52 Albert Road in Gourock is a double villa built in the earlier to mid 19th century, featuring two stories and an attic. The villa is designed in a terrace form with classical details. It has a front made of yellow sandstone ashlar, with droved ashlar on the sides and base course, and coursed stugged rubble at the rear. The building has a tall base course, a channelled ground floor, and a band course above the ground floor. The first-floor windows are architraved with recessed aprons, and there is an eaves cornice topped by a tall parapet. The entrances are framed by square columned doorpieces accessed by stairs.

On the northwest (front) elevation, there are doorways in the second and fourth bays from the left, with single windows in the remaining bays. The first and third bays feature canted dormers with piended roofs, while the right bays have modern box dormers with a parapet below.

The southeast (rear) elevation includes a curved rubble-built forestair providing access to first-floor doorways and a later iron stair to the right of center, along with additional door access. There are windows in the flanking bays, two wallhead dormers to the right, and a modern box dormer to the left.

The front features sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, while the rear has replacement windows. The roof is slate, with gableheads and mutual stacks.

The boundary wall consists of rubble with rounded coping, and there are two coped gatepiers with chamfered arrises.
