Description
This railway bridge, likely designed by Grainger and Miller around 1840, features a later brick addition to the northern parapet. It has a single depressed arch and is primarily constructed of sandstone ashlar, with some brick repairs and additions. Notable architectural details include string courses at the springing point of the arch and the base of the parapet, as well as stugged channelled voussoirs. The parapets are coped, with the northern parapet being corbelled out and heightened using red brick. The bridge is flanked by slightly battered pilaster buttresses on either side of the arch, and there is a small amount of engineering-brick repairs to the arch soffit.
