Description
Haughhead Bridge, built in 1840 with later repairs to the parapet, features four segmental arches made of red sandstone ashlar. Some re-pointing has been done to the piers, and the arches are complemented by ashlar voussoirs, soffits, and abutments. A string course runs below the plain ashlar coped parapet, and there are band courses on the shallow, chamfered triangular-plan cutwaters. Raised vertical rectangular panels above the cutwaters divide the arches and extend up to the parapet. The bridge is flanked by low curved and coped red sandstone ashlar approach walls, and there are no pedestrian walkways.
