Old Ardtornish Steading, Ardtornish Estate

Old Ardtornish Steading is a large, late 18th century farm steading designed in a hollow square layout. The building is constructed of harl pointed rubble with tooled rubble dressings. The south front features a three-bay design with paired segmental-headed arched bays and square loft vents above. To the southwest, there is a later projecting gabled bay that includes two rows of pigeon flight holes with continuous alighting ledges in the gable.

The south elevation is bordered by a high-walled courtyard, which is divided into two sections by a wall that has two front entrances and a single side entrance. The long east return has a high segmental-headed entrance leading into the inner court, along with additional loft vents above. There is also an enlarged entrance with double doors. Inside the inner court, the west side is fitted with more segmental-headed arched bays, likely used as sheepfolds, along with byre and stable accommodations. The roofs are slated, featuring both piended and gabled designs.
