Description
Spa Cottage dates from around 1820. It is a single-storey and attic building with three bays, plus an additional bay to the northeast. The exterior is harled with polished ashlar dressings. The main three-bay section features a central doorway and flanking narrow windows with pointed arched lights, all connected by an ogee-roofed verandah; the central part of the verandah is trellised to form a porch. A wide pediment extends across the full width of the three bays, incorporating a lunette above a deep ashlar band course that continues across the return gable. To the right is a single additional bay with a 12-pane sash window and a small oval dormer above. The north and south gables also have similar lunettes. Original sliding shutters survive at the south gable. The roof is slated and has broad, flat skews, along with margined ridge and end stacks. A later extension has been added to the northeast gable.
