Description
Kinnettas House is a symmetrical, two-storey, three-bay house built between 1826 and 1831, with a contemporary wing to the rear forming a T-plan layout. The house is harled with painted, tooled margins. It features a recessed central doorway, with original lying-pane glazing remaining in the first floor of the front (south) elevation and in the rear wing. Twin ridge stacks are present, along with a road eaves detail and a piended slate roof.
The interior retains original panelled window shutters and doors, simple chimney-pieces, and pilastered arches in the hall and staircase opening.
The farm of Kinnettas was leased by Alexander MacGregor from the Cromartie Estate in 1826. The house itself was constructed sometime after this date and before 1831, as evidenced by a letter from Alexander MacGregor to James Laing dated 15 October 1831.
