Description

Edderton Parish Church is a long, low church built in 1743, with repairs made in 1794, 1816, and 1851. The exterior is harled with ashlar margins and features six bays, including four central rectangular windows and doorways in the outer bays. There are two piended dormers above the windows in the second and fourth bays. The west gable has a bellcote with stumpy finials, and there is an earlier to mid-19th century burial enclosure at the same gable that exhibits Tudor Gothic detail. A gallery with forestairs leads to a first-floor porch at the east gable, which also includes a ruined burial enclosure dating from 1637. The church has a slate roof. Inside, there is a simple panelled pulpit from 1794 with flanking stairs. The burial ground is enclosed by dry stone walls topped with rubble cope and contains tombs and memorial plaques from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
