Description

1-3 Nursery Cottages are a long, low, single-storey range of buildings dated 1865, originally designed as four dwellings but now used as two. The construction is of harl-pointed rubble, with harled gables and rear elevations, and painted window reveals. A gabled slate canopy, supported by painted wooden columns, protects the central entrance. The windows are 12-pane sashes, and the roof is slated, featuring end and ridge stacks. The cottages were built by the Ellice family as part of their estate. They possess an unusual internal plan.
