Description
The Harbour at Castlehill is an early 19th-century small flagstone harbour featuring a stilling basin. Some of the flagstones are set vertically, and wide quays flank both basins, although there is some modern cement render surfacing present.
Adjacent to the harbour is a long rectangular boathouse, also from the early to mid-19th century, located on the east side. This boathouse is constructed of rubble with roughly tooled rubble dressings. It has a wide entrance on the west gable, which faces the harbour, featuring a curved wooden lintel and double leaf plank doors fitted with long blacksmith iron hinges. Above the entrance, there is a small loft window. The boathouse is topped with simple square apex finials and has a Caithness slate roof.
