Description
Mains Of Olrig is a mid to late 18th century, two-storey, three-bay house featuring a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay wing that conceals the central bay of the northeast front. The exterior is constructed from harl pointed rubble with tooled rubble dressings. The entrance is located in the northeast re-entrant and is sheltered by a small square porch that has a crenellated balustrade and a dummy angle turret. There is a later shallow rectangular two-light bay window on the ground floor of the northeast gable, which has a crowstepped lean-to roof. The southeast return gable features a shallow central projecting bay with vents on both the ground and first floors, and it concludes with a gabled wallhead stack. The southeast gable includes three windows and a tiny attic light. The building has four- and twelve-pane glazing, end stacks, a Caithness slate roof, and a stone ridge.
