Imperial Bar, 1-9 Academy Street, Inverness

The Imperial Bar, located at 1-9 Academy Street in Inverness, is a building from the late 19th century featuring Thomsonesque Aegypto-Greek detailing. It is constructed of ashlar and stands three storeys tall with an attic, comprising five bays that include shop fronts on the ground floor. The first floor has aedicular windows, with a pediment at the center, while the second floor features a pilastrade with recessed bipartite windows. The roof has five pedimented dormers. Decorative elements include incised Greek key and anthemion carvings, an anthemion frieze, and a cornice. The building has a canted corner on the east side topped with a beehive dome, and it presents a five-bay front to Baron Taylor's Street. The roof is slated.
