Description

This is a rectangular church, likely designed by William Henderson of Aberdeen and built around 1844. It was reconstructed in 1906 and subsequently altered after 1929. The church has a lower, single-story, three-bay wing extending to the north. The exterior is of coursed rubble with a harled rear and incorporates tooled ashlar margins and dressings. The east-facing gable features a round-headed entrance, with a gallery window situated above. The south elevation is symmetrical with five long, round-headed windows, filled with lattice pane glazing. A finialled bellcote sits atop the east gable apex, and a ridge ventilator is present, alongside apex ball finials. The roof is covered in slate. The church is currently in ecclesiastical use, originally serving as a Free Church. Advertisements for tenders for roofing, windows, and doors appeared in the Inverness Courier on 13 November 1844. Further historical details are recorded in the Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae, Volume ix, page 664, and The Fasti, United Free Church, page 488.
