Description

The Bridge of Coe is a single-span rubble bridge built in 1785. It features a slight hump-back design and a segmental arch constructed from tooled rubble, springing from a natural rock abutment. The bridge has a roughly dressed low rubble parapet with widely splayed approaches. The military road connecting Stirling and Fort William was initially planned in 1752, routing via the Devil's Staircase and Kinlochleven, but was realigned to pass through Glencoe in 1785.
