Description
The Funeral Home on Huntly Street in Inverness was designed by J Pond Macdonald between 1893 and 1895 in a free Palladian style. The central block features a two-storey, three-bay façade with a pediment. The upper section showcases the Ionic order, while the entrance is highlighted by an arched and keyblocked Corinthian doorpiece, which is accessed via a broad concave-splayed staircase. On either side of the central block are two-storey pedimented stairhalls, which are pilastered and have round windows on the first floor. The left stairhall extends upward as a tower, culminating in an open top stage of square couples that rises into a slated spire with a bell-shaped profile.
