Description
Ornsay House is a 2-storey, 3-bay house constructed in 1829 by Thomas Telford. It was originally the parish manse and later altered, including a re-casting of the main entrance. A 2-storey wing extends to the rear. The exterior is harled with contrasting painted margins, and the façade features long and short detailing. The house has 2-pane glazing and coped end stacks, topped by a slate roof. A central doorway was added at a later date. Alterations are visible on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1873. References to Thomas Telford can be found in the Biographical Atlas of 1838, pages 58-9.
